AFC West Notes: Broncos, Chargers, Raiders

Broncos

Broncos’ second-year QB Drew Lock said their additions at receiver, including Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler gives him “a little extra confidence” going forward.

“Puts a little extra confidence on my back and at the same time those expectations do rise when you have so many weapons around you but I’d like to say I hold myself to high expectations,” said Lock, via Mike Klis of 9News.

Lock feels the pressure he places on himself “outweighs” any from other sources.

“I like to put pressure on myself in general. And I think the pressure I put on myself always outweighs the pressure that comes from the media or even friends and family,” said Lock, via Klis

Lock believes that Denver’s additions to their offense proved that he’s gained the trust of their front office.

Yeah, I think the moves just said they saw something positive in the way I played in those last games and potentially being a guy here that can stay a long time and help the Broncos win as many games as possible,” Lock said, via ProFootballTalk. “It means a lot to me to see that happen.”

Chargers

  • Per the Athletic’s Daniel Popper, Chargers DC Gus Bradley said they would like for 2019 first-round DT Jerry Tillery to get bigger and stronger, which he’s in the process of doing: “He didn’t take much time off this offseason.”

Raiders

  • The Athletic’s Jay Glazer points out the Raiders signed HC Jon Gruden to a 10-year, $100 million deal in 2018 and his personality will be an asset to the marketing team as they move to Las Vegas, so he’s likely not going anywhere any time soon.
  • The Athletic’s Vic Tafur mentions the Raiders are still on the lookout for a veteran cornerback.
