Former Bills RB Karlos Williams Conditionally Reinstated From Suspension

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the NFL conditionally reinstated former Bills RB Karlos Williams from suspension on Wednesday.

Williams had been serving a suspension for violations of the substance abuse policy since March 8, 2017.

According to Rapoport, Williams was humbled by the news and is committed to not squandering his second chance in the NFL.

Williams previously served four- and 10game-game suspensions for violating the league’s Substances of Abuse Policy before being suspended for over a year in June of 2017.

Williams, 25, was taken in the fifth round of last year’s NFL Draft by the Bills. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2,495,352 rookie contract and was set to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

The Bills made the decision cut Williams in part because his conditioning was an issue. Reports mentioned that Williams showed up to offseason workouts between 20-25 pounds overweight.

The Steelers signed him to their practice squad in October and later brought him back on a futures deal. However, Williams was waived a few months later.

In 2015, Williams appeared in 11 games for the Bills and ran for 517 yards on 93 carries (5.6 YPC) to go along with 11 receptions for 96 yards receiving and 9 total touchdowns.
