Lions Free Up $2.17M In Cap Space By Reworking S Glover Quin’s Contract

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Lions have restructured S Glover Quin‘s contract by converting $3.255 million of his 2015 base salary into a signing bonus.

This move will free up $2.17 million in available cap space for the Lions, according to Yates.

Quin, 29, signed a five-year, $23.5 million contract with the Lions as an unrestricted free agent in March of last year. He has three years remaining on the agreement with base salary of $4 million (2015), $4 million (2016), and $4 million (2017).

In 2014, Quin appeared in all 16 games for Detroit and recorded 72 tackles, seven interceptions, and 11 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 safety out of 87 qualifying players.
