NFL Notes: Colts, Cowboys, Jets, & Texans

Colts

• Stephen Holder reports that the Colts have re-signed WR Griff Whalen to their practice squad. (Stephen Holder)
• Holder adds that Whalen received a few calls from NFL teams, but nothing materialized.

Cowboys

• DE Jack Crawford suffered a broken thumb Sunday night and will undergo surgery on Tuesday. He’s expected to miss four weeks. (Desmond Purnell)

Jets

• QB Michael Vick was benched in favor of Geno Smith in the third quarter of Monday night’s blowout loss to the Bills.
• HC Rex Ryan said that he expects to be the Jets’ head coach for the remainder of the season.

“One thing I know for a fact, unless it changes drastically, is I will be the head coach here for the next five weeks,” Ryan said, per Mike Garafolo.

Texans

• The Houston Texans will receive a seventh-round pick from the Patriots in return for QB Ryan Mallett prevent him from reaching the playtime requirements of the trade. (Mike Reiss)
