Redskins Trying To Set Up Meeting With Gregg Williams Regarding DC Job

JP Finlay reports that Gregg Williams hasn’t finalized a deal with the Jets at this point in time and the Redskins are trying to secure a meeting with him before anything is agreed to.

Finlay adds that Washington is hoping to meet with Williams as soon as Tuesday regarding their defensive coordinator job.

The Redskins have clearly been exploring the possibility of a defensive coordinator change in recent weeks.

Mike Garafolo reports that the Redskins actually spoke with Steve Wilks before he agreed to become the Browns’ defensive coordinator.

Williams, 60, has worked for several NFL teams over the course of his career including the Oilers/Titans, Bills, Redskins, Jaguars, Saints, and Rams before the Browns hired him as their defensive coordinator for the 2017 season.

After the Browns fired Hue Jackson, Williams was elevated to interim head coach.

Under Williams, the Browns went 5-3 this past season.

We’ll have more regarding the Redskins as the news is available.
