Cardinals Reach An Agreement With TE Jake Ballard

According to Darren Urban, the Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with TE Jake Ballard.

  • The Cardinals also waived TE D.C. Jefferson concurrently to make room for Ballard. Jefferson was a 2013 seventh-round draft pick.

Ballard, 25, has not played in an NFL game since 2011 after dealing with knee injuries. He was last with the Patriots, but was ultimately cut loose at the end of August. Since then, he visited with the Ravens, but overall didn’t find a whole lot of interest.

Ballard should primarily serve as a blocking tight end given Cardinals’ blocking deficiencies this season.
