Report: Ongoing Discussions Between Giants & AFC North Team About Odell Beckham Jr

Josina Anderson of ESPN reported on “NFL Live” Tuesday that an AFC North team that as recently as today continues to inquire about a potential trade for WR Odell Beckham and discussions have remained ongoing with the Giants.

There has been a lot of buzz about the Browns and Beckham in recent weeks, so they’re clearly the team to keep an eye on here. Cleveland has No. 17, 49, 80 and 95 in the first three rounds of the draft to work with if they want to make the Giants a serious offer for their star receiver.

Reports have said that the Giants will listen to offers for Beckham, but aren’t shopping him around the league. Even so, this strategy clearly isn’t stopping teams from maintaining a dialogue about acquiring Beckham.

Former NFL GM Michael Lombardi says he spoke to a team that is convinced the Giants will trade Beckham if they get the right offer for him. According to Lombardi, Beckham has a “very short list” of places he wants to go.

Beckham, 26, was taken with the No. 12 overall pick by the Giants back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $10,406,198 contract before the Giants picked up his fifth-year option in 2017.

Last year, there was speculation that the Rams, 49ers and Patriots could be potential landing spots for Beckham and there has been a lot of buzz about the Browns having interest in him.

Beckham was set to make a base salary of $8,459,000 for the 2018 season when he agreed to a new five-year extension worth up to $95 million and includes $65 million in total guarantees. He stands to make base salaries of $16.75 million and $14 million over the next two years.

In 2018, Beckham appeared in 12 games for the Giants and recorded 77 receptions for 1,052 yards receiving (13.7 YPC) and six touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding Beckham as the news is available.
