Saints Making Calls To Trade For Early Second-Round Pick

Albert Breer of The MMQB reports that the Saints have been calling around teams in the early part of round two about a trade.

Ian Rapoport suggests cornerback or linebacker as potential targets for the Saints.

Breer mentions that the Saints are currently without a second-round pick, which means New Orleans may have to consider including a 2021 pick to get up in the early part of round two.

One team reportedly open to dropping back is the Colts at No. 34 overall. That would give the Saints their second pick to open day two with several notable players still on the board.

Rapoport says the Dolphins are also a team to watch at No. 39 overall.

The Saints do not have a lot of roster needs, given that they’re deep on both sides of the ball. They opted to take Michigan C Cesar Ruiz in round one, which came as a bit of a surprise, but New Orleans has been so good at evaluating offensive linemen in recent years that it’s hard to question them.

We’ll have more regarding the Saints as the news is available.
