Titans Activating First-Round DL Jeffery Simmons From NFI List

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that the Titans are activating first-round DL Jeffery Simmons from the NFI list on Saturday.

Simmons suffered a torn ACL during the pre-draft process, but he managed to return to practice this week. Rapoport says Tennessee plans to be cautious with their top pick in his return from a serious knee injury.

Simmons, 21, was the No. 19 overall pick by the Titans out of Mississippi State. Some felt he could have been a top-10 pick this year before he suffered a torn ACL.

According to OverTheCap.com, Simmons receives a four-year, $12,663,750 rookie contract that includes $7,230,00 signing bonus.

During his three-year college career at Mississippi State, Simmons recorded 159 tackles, 30.5 tackles for a loss, six sacks, five forced fumbles, two recoveries, one defensive touchdown and seven pass defenses over the course of 37 games.
